Justin Misleh provides clients with a decisive strategic advantage by drawing on nearly two decades of distinguished service as a Primary Patent Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). He leverages this rare insider’s perspective to build robust, high-value patent portfolios for a diverse range of clients, from global technology leaders and innovative startups to academic institutions. His practice is focused on protecting complex inventions in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, cloud infrastructure, interactive entertainment, and computer vision.
Justin’s counsel extends across the full IP lifecycle. His examiner background allows him to anticipate challenges, craft more resilient patent applications, and prosecute them with unparalleled efficiency. Beyond his core prosecution work, Justin provides critical support for high-stakes litigation and post-grant proceedings, including inter partes reviews. His strategic counsel also extends to freedom-to-operate analysis, IP due diligence for major transactions, and the preparation of complex non-infringement and invalidity opinions to help clients navigate risk and make informed business decisions.
While at the USPTO, Justin’s performance was consistently recognized at the highest levels. He is a recipient of the USPTO Bronze Medal Award, the agency's highest honorary award for superior performance and significant contributions to patent operations. In addition to his core examination duties, he was selected for several leadership roles, including Acting Supervisory Patent Examiner and Administrative Patent Judge Clerk at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). He was also formally recognized by USPTO management as an expert in imaging technologies.
Committed to serving the community, Justin was named to the 2023 and 2025 Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll in recognition of his significant pro bono contributions.
