Overview

A registered patent attorney, Leo Wen develops patent strategies aligned with each client’s business goals and manages patent portfolios for both Fortune 500 companies and leading innovators in niche markets. He advises on patent preparation and prosecution, patent litigation, post-grant proceedings, including Inter Partes Review (IPR), and legal opinions on patentability, invalidity, non-infringement, and freedom-to-operate (FTO).

Leveraging his strong technical background in physics and electrical engineering, Leo advises technology companies and innovators alike on protecting their most valuable intangible assets. He has broad experience across complex technologies, from semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing to medical devices, telecommunications, and advanced sensing systems. Leo also brings a valuable international perspective from his work over a decade ago as a patent engineer for China’s largest IP law firm where he prepared or prosecuted hundreds of patent applications.

Prior to rejoining the firm, Leo was a senior associate at a national AmLaw 100 firm in its Atlanta, Georgia office where he focused his practice on patent preparation and prosecution. In this role, he led efforts to build a robust patent portfolio covering application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), data center infrastructure, and other enabling hardware technologies for a leading frontier AI company. Previously, Leo worked with Kilpatrick as an associate in its Atlanta office where he practiced patent preparation and prosecution, patent litigation, post-grant proceedings such as IPR, and legal opinions on patentability, invalidity, non-infringement, and FTO. Before that, he was an associate in the Atlanta office of a national intellectual property boutique law firm and an AmLaw 100 firm where his practice concentrated on patent preparation, prosecution, and legal opinion work.

Beyond his practice, Leo founded PT Intellectual (Peking University/Tsinghua University IP Club) in Shanghai, China, an organization that connects stellar intellectual property practitioners such as IP attorneys, in-house counsels, judges, and scholars in China.

Leo’s native language is Mandarin.
