Corporate Citizenship Connected to Our Communities

We understand the transformative impact our firm can have on our communities, colleagues, and clients. Our commitment to active citizenship enables all team members to drive positive change through philanthropy, volunteerism, and civic and nonprofit board leadership, while advancing our values and fostering corporate, nonprofit, and school partnerships.

Building on the firm’s commitments to justice and community, we focus our efforts on supporting access and opportunity in our communities.

  • Environmental sustainability

Through year-round programming, we contribute to community solutions where our resources of dollars, time, and expertise are best aligned to make a meaningful, measurable impact.

Career Immersion

Throughout the year, Kilpatrick volunteers introduce students and young professionals to careers in the legal and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math) fields. Efforts culminate in our annual Law Camp program for high school members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. For a week each summer, teenage Club members participate in life at a law firm, gain hands-on experience with a wide variety of legal and corporate roles, and prepare for and participate in a mock trial based on a high-profile case won by the firm. By the end of the week, Campers develop a self-empowered understanding of the legal field and demonstrate new-found confidence, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.

Year-Round Education Partnerships

Across the United States, Kilpatrick engages with partner schools and youth development nonprofits to make reading and math fun for students, support teachers in the classroom, bring real-life application to STEAM learning concepts, beautify educational spaces, and celebrate learning. Additionally, volunteers assist parents and guardians with job searching and technology skill development.

Summer of Impact

Throughout the U.S. each summer, Kilpatrick attorneys and professional staff come together to make a meaningful impact in our Kilpatrick communities. In the summer of 2025, they volunteered to support STEAM education, career exploration, food security, and environmental stewardship.

Showing Up for Our Neighbors and Each Other

When natural disaster strikes a Kilpatrick community, the firm partners with national and local nonprofits leading rescue, response, and recovery efforts through financial, volunteer, and pro bono support. We also support prevention and preparedness efforts. Additionally, the KTS Employee Financial Support Fund was established in 2020 to support Kilpatrick employees who experience unexpected financial hardship. The fund is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, wholly funded by donations from Kilpatrick attorneys and professional staff. Grant decisions are made by an independent grant committee.

Nonprofit Board Leadership

Kilpatrick’s community leadership efforts honor the important relationship between our business and our communities. As active citizens of the communities where we live and work, our partners, counsel, associates, and professional staff readily take on leadership roles by serving as board members for hundreds of nonprofit organizations across the country. Nonprofit board service builds valuable skills which enable us to serve our clients better, while simultaneously building valuable professional and personal relationships. To prepare our attorneys, we offer annual training that teaches effective nonprofit leadership skills and nonprofit governance standards.

Community Networks

Kilpatrick’s award-winning volunteer program creates a spirit of service integral to the culture of our firm. By partnering with nonprofit organizations and schools across the country that are a catalyst for change, we also build skills that help our attorneys and staff succeed professionally. Each U.S. office boasts a Community Network (or volunteer council) of attorneys and professional staff, which plans and leads day-long and long-term projects in our core focus areas of Education and Economic Opportunities and that support sustainable and resilient communities.

  • 11,000+ hours volunteered annually by Kilpatrick attorneys and professional staff.
  • 150+ attorneys and professional staff serve on local Community Networks.
