Greg Silberman is a technology and privacy lawyer with 25 years of experience providing legal counsel to clients in a broad range of industries and developing business first solutions at the nexus of intellectual property, privacy, and information security for emerging technologies. Recognized as a practical strategist with a strong technical background in electrical engineering and computer science, he collaborates effectively with engineers, lawyers, and business leadership to protect innovation and integrate privacy and security while minimizing legal and implementation risks.
Prior to joining the firm, Greg built and led the global privacy team for Zoom Video Communications in response to exponential growth and the company’s expansion into new geographies, verticals, and product offerings for consumer, enterprise, and government customers.
Before joining Zoom, he was Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for BlackBerry Corporation where he managed the organization’s data protection and compliance programs as the company transitioned from being a smartphone manufacturer to a software and services company focused on cybersecurity, encrypted voice and digital communications, embedded systems, automotive safety, IoT, and connected systems.
Greg’s first in-house position was as Vice President Legal Affairs and Chief Privacy Officer for Cylance Inc – a pioneer in machine learning based cybersecurity software – where he was responsible for the development and management of the company’s intellectual property portfolio and privacy compliance program.
Before joining Cylance, he was a partner in the Cybersecurity, Privacy & Data Protection practice group of a global law firm in its Palo Alto, California office where he counseled clients on privacy and information security matters, including evaluating and managing risks associated with privacy and information security practices, compliance with relevant international, federal, and state laws, and regulations, government, and industry standards.
Greg began his legal career as a patent attorney at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, California.
