Counsel Ken Baker Joins Firm’s Washington, D.C. Office
WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 14, 2025) – Kilpatrick announced today the addition of Ken Baker, counsel, to its growing Real Estate Finance and Capital Markets Team. Mr. Baker will work from Kilpatrick’s Washington, D.C. office. Until recently, he practiced at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner. From 2020 - 2022 he was an associate with Kilpatrick.
Mr. Baker joins Kilpatrick after the high-profile additions in June of Bob Stupar, partner, and Harold Hagen, counsel - both from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner. Mr. Stupar practices from the firm’s Atlanta office and Mr. Hagen from the San Francisco office.
“We welcome Ken back to Kilpatrick,” said Maritza Winfunke and Greg Lazerus, Co-Leaders of the firm’s Real Estate Finance and Capital Markets Team. “Our team’s recent strategic growth in Atlanta, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C., illustrates the national scope of the team’s reach as we serve clients throughout the country. Ken brings 13 years of significant legal and entrepreneurial experience and provides depth to our practice in the nation’s capital.”
Mr. Baker represents CMBS and other mortgage loan servicers in loan modifications, workouts, and other servicing transactions. He has deep experience counseling CMBS and CRE/CLO servicers, with representations on servicing matters for commercial mortgage loans with an aggregate value in excess of $6 billion. His experience covers the spectrum of resolutions for CMBS loans, including payoffs, assumptions, deed-in-lieu of foreclosure and foreclosure, receivership appointments, and REO management.
Mr. Baker also assists servicers and other CMBS participants with pooling and servicing agreement analysis and advice, including both REMIC and non-REMIC tax compliance. Additionally, he has experience advising CMBS servicers in connection with affordable housing tax-credit and tax-exempt bond financing arrangements.
Mr. Baker received his B.A., with distinction, from the University of Michigan and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. He is recognized by The Best Lawyers in America®.
