Insights: News Kilpatrick's Capital Markets Team Continues to Grow
ATLANTA (September 23) – Kilpatrick announced today the addition of Matt Royko, counsel, to its expanding Real Estate Finance and Capital Markets Team. Recent growth of the team includes Bob Stupar, partner, and Harold Hagen, counsel, who joined the Firm’s Real Estate Finance and Capital Markets Team last June and Ken Baker, counsel, who was added in July. Mr. Royko will work from Kilpatrick’s Atlanta office. Until recently, he practiced at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner.
Mr. Royko, with nearly three decades of experience, primarily focuses his practice on real estate finance matters, specifically the areas of secured and unsecured lending transactions and acquisition financings. He represents lenders in REIT financings as well as mezzanine and conduit loans. Mr. Royko’s clients include syndicate banks, agents and international corporations in bi-lateral and syndicated acquisitions and working capital financings. A significant segment of his practice involves representing loan servicers in connection with loan assumptions, preferred equity investments and transfers of interest transactions. Mr. Royko’s transactions over the course of his career have totaled tens of billions of dollars in financings. He is annually recognized for Best Lawyers in America® – Real Estate Law.
Mr. Royko is active in the community. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Greater Atlanta Safari Club and was previously a member of the Board of Directors for the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia.
Mr. Royko earned his J.D., cum laude, from American University School of Law and his B.A. from Fairfield University.
